  • Overview

    Civil Engineer – San Francisco/East Bay Area

     

    We are currently seeking a Civil Engineer to assist in the determination of the origin, cause and extent of failures, water intrusions, and construction defects to join our team.  Duties in this key position involve the investigation and analysis of residential and commercial/industrial properties for the purpose of resolving insurance claims and legal disputes. Assignments will include site evaluations, oral and written reports that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation.  Provide opinions and expert testimony.  Other duties include gathering photographic evidence, conducting investigations to document onsite conditions and oversee field-testing.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND Duties

     

    Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

     

    Performs forensic assignments within the field of civil/structural engineering expertise based upon a scope of work and budget prepared by the consultant and agreed upon by the client in advance of performing the work. 

    • Field Investigations: Study and determine the cause and origin of construction defects or structural/geotechnical/foundation failures. 
    • Produces written forensic reports detailing the causes and origins of construction defects, damage, and/or structural failures. 
    • May serve as team leader or project manager.  May be required to supervise and/or evaluate performance of associate team members.
    • Ability to initiate, develop and maintain mutually beneficial client relationships.

     

    Qualifications

    • REQUIRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE, AND EXPERIENCE

       

      • B.S. Civil Engineering degree or higher.
      • California P.E. required.
      • 5 – 15+ years of experience.

       

      • Experience in Civil Land Development, including construction, transportation & roadway design, hydrology and/or geotechnical design is a plus.

       

      • Must have high level of analytical skills. Work requires continual attention to detail with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
      • Must be able to interact and communicate with clients at all levels (e.g. internal and external).
      • Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications including but not limited to, Microsoft Office Applications and computer assisted engineering and design software.
