  • Overview

We are currently looking for an Architect to work with our Property teams in the Ohio area. The perfect person will be able to provide forensic (just a fun word for CSI for buildings) consulting services requiring architectural/facility design expertise for insurance, legal, industrial, and other clients. This role requires a strong background and understanding of technical aspects of residential and commercial building envelope systems, building codes, ADA guidelines, construction documents preparation, and the standard of general architect’s responsibilities. It also calls for providing oral and written reports of findings and, when needed, expert testimony. In this role, you will manage multiple projects.

    In this role you will:

    • Perform forensic assignments within the field of architecture/facility design based upon a scope of work and budget prepared by the consultant and agreed upon by the client in advance of performing the work.
    • Perform on-site architectural systems evaluations and inspections to determine the cause and origin of failed, defective, damaged, and /or potential resultant damage due to architectural components, and produce written forensic reports detailing the findings.
    • Manage multiple projects, coordinating with other support team members to produce client reports in timely manner.
    • Ensure that procedures are being followed and checking on safety features of the project during the time it is being completed.
    • Use many different equations, applications, and figures to ensure the proper procedural application.
    • Sometimes serve as team leader or project manager. You may also be required to supervise and/or evaluate performance of associate team members.
    • Be comfortable initiating, developing, and maintaining mutually beneficial client relationships.

To be successful, you are going to need:

    • B.S. in Architecture degree or higher (required)
    • To be a Registered Architect in at least one state. NCARB is a plus.
    • A minimum of 10 years of experience individually or combined as an architect in the technical design of building envelope systems for construction documents, construction administrative services, and/or project management of building construction.
    • A high level of analytical skills. This work requires continual attention to detail with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
    • Good report writing skills, the ability to develop and commit to budgets, scopes and deadlines.
    • Must be able to interact and communicate with clients at all levels (e.g. internal and external), and work independently with good judgment and critical thinking skills.
    • Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Applications and computer assisted engineering and design software.
    • To be able to complete work in an outside environment (Client office, industrial, construction and residential sites) as well as an office setting.
    • To perform activities on site: standing, walking on steep slope roofs, climb ladders, enter confined spaces (attics, crawlspaces, tunnels) and lift up to 50 pounds.
    • A valid driver's license and method of transportation.
